Galatians 6:7

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked:for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7).

It's Your Choice!

Everyday, we all face different situations in our lives where we have to make choices. The
choices we make today will determine our future. If we make the wrong choices today, we will
certainly reap the repercussions. On the other hand, if we make the right choices today, we will
surely reap the harvest in the future. Our present decisions will surely determine our future.
This means that our destinies are in our own hands. What you sow is definitely what you reap.
What you plant is surely what you are going to harvest. Any decision you make whether right or
wrong, good or evil, you’ve automatically sowed. The outcome, or the end result of the choice
you’ve made, is a harvest of which you cannot escape. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). Our destinies do not
determine our choices. Rather, our choices determine our destinies!

In the same vein, whether you go to heaven or hell is completely your own choice. God is not
the one to decide for you. Satan is not to decide for you either. Let it be made abundantly clear
to you also that nobody including parents, children, siblings, friends, angels, neighbors, co-
workers, the clergy, or strangers can make this ultimate decision for you. There are no
institutions, be they religious or secular, that can decide for you. Nobody or institution, no
matter how highly placed can make this decision on your behalf. You cannot make this
decision after you die. And nobody can make this decision for you (on your behalf) after you
die. If you decide to go to hell, nobody can pray to get you out, nobody can pay to get you out,
and nobody can rescue you out of hell. You will remain in hell and suffer there forever. Jesus
Christ says, “And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than
having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm
dieth not, and the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:45-46). “And whosoever was not found written
in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). This revelation of hell was
given to Apostle John by Jesus Christ. You have to decide for yourself and it must be while you
are still alive!

Joshua, the man of God who succeeded the prophet Moses, one day gathered all the tribes of
Israel at the ancient city of Shechem and told them to make a choice between serving the
Almighty God and other gods (Joshua 24:1-25). Joshua 24:15 says: “And if it seem evil unto
you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your
fathers served who were on the other  side of the  flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose
land ye dwell: But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua directed his
listeners to choose the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob or other fake gods and idols of this
world which include but are not limited to money, wealth, fame, beauty, achievements, objects,
status, people, human relationships, human philosophies, self , intellect, and ideas. However,
he made it clear to them that he, Joshua, “will serve the Lord”. Right now, you face the same
choice!

Every individual has to make a choice between good and evil, right and wrong, holiness and
sin, Jesus Christ and Satan, heaven and hell.  In Deuteronomy 30:11-20, the prophet Moses
asked the children of Israel to choose between life and death. “For this commandment which I
command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that
thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it,
and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for
us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?  But the word is very nigh unto thee, in
thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. See, I have set before thee this day to love
the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and
his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God  shall bless thee in the
land wither thou goest to possess it. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but
shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;  I denounce unto you this day,
that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land whither thou
passest over Jordan to go to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you,
that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both
thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey
his voice, and thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and length of thy days: that thou
mayest dwell in the land which the Lord swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to
Jacob, to give them” (Deuteronomy 30:11-20). What is your choice today? It will determine
where you will spend eternity.

Many people I meet confess that they are not sure if they are going to heaven or hell. These
same people argue that nobody can be sure whether or not he or she is going to heaven or
hell. In these claims, the issue of choice and free will given by God is rejected to deflect
responsibility from one’s life. To these claims, I simply reply that they and everybody else can
be sure of heaven but it is dependent on receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and not rejecting
Him. God makes choices too and that was how He chose to create us, as free moral beings.
Since God makes choices and chose to create us in his image and likeness, He
communicated to us the ability to make choices also. That obvious ability is certainly what we
cannot ignore, dismiss, or deny. God honors and respects our free will. I let everyone know
that I am very, very sure that I am going to heaven. This is because I made the choice to be
born-again!

When a Pharisee named Nicodemus came to Jesus, “Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born-again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”
(John 3:3). You must be born-again to be a Christian. You cannot and will never be a Christian
if you are not born-again. To be a Christian, means to be Christ-like. Those who were born-
again were called Christians (disciples and followers of Jesus Christ whose sins have been
washed away by the precious blood of Jesus Christ) by unbelievers in Antioch because their
lives mirrored Jesus Christ who saved them.  “And when he had found him, he brought him
unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the
church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch”
(Acts 11:26). Being a Christian is not by family or religious inheritance neither is it by tradition.

The Holy Bible says in Romans10:9-13 that, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be
ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over
all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall
be saved.”

Jesus Christ is calling you today. Admit the fact that you are a sinner and you need Jesus
Christ. Repent of your sins. Answer the greatest call. God, Himself, is the One making this call.
Please, don’t reject this wonderful call. It will make an eternal difference in your life. Come to
Jesus today! He will never fail you! He will forgive you for all your sins and heal your broken
heart. HE DIED TO SAVE YOU! Do not postpone this decision. It could be eternally fatal if you
procrastinate this decision to surrender your life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Delay is dangerous! Don’t wait any longer. Stop listening to the devil. Satan hates you. But God
loves you! Because God loves you, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer and die so you can
spend your eternity in heaven. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten
Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

This is the time for you to be saved. The grace of God is here for you. “For he saith, I have
heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now
is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation” (II Corinthians 6:2). This is the time
for you to be born-again. Receive Jesus Christ today and be saved! The choice is simply
yours. It will be the best decision you will ever make in your lifetime. Today is your day of
decision. Remember the proverb “a stitch in time saves nine”. Do not procrastinate. Waiting
only makes it more difficult to make the right choice. It is better to act right now and accept
Christ Jesus. Going beyond the above proverb, you will not have nine more times or
opportunities to make this decision when you die. The opportunity to make this decision will
one day be over. “And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”
(Hebrews 9:27). This choice will have an eternal result. The time is now!

Yours in His Vineyard,

Ernest Godfrey
